NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – After a two-month undercover drug investigation, the New Bern Police Department released the results of “Operation Barbershop.”
During the street-level operation, detectives bought drugs directly from the dealer. The locations ranged from the 1900 block of MLK to 1210 Broad Street with buys occurring throughout the day.
Here are the statistics of the investigation:
- 32 buys
- One powder cocaine
- 22 crack cocaine (1 at trafficking levels)
- Seven heroin (One at trafficking levels)
- One marijuana
- 16 individuals bought from
- 13 arrested to date (Four of which are habitual and two of which this is the qualifying felony)
- One pending arrest
- One needing identifying
- One of the arrested has been accepted for federal prosecution and is facing 5-to-100 years
Chief Toussaint E. Summers, Jr. sent the following message, “We are out there and you never know ‘who’ you are buying drugs from.”
